5 Oct 1842 After one publication of banns, marriage of George Hedge, widower of Eleanor Ryan of Osgoode, to Mary Behan, daughter of Jeremiah Behan and Catherine Flynn of County Tipperary in Ireland

The Bytown Gazette, Thursday March 12, 1840 Obit: "In Richmond, on Saturday last, at the advanced age of upwards of 80 years, George Edge, a Pensioner from the 84th Regiment. The deceased had been upwards of 59 years in the service of his country, was buried with military honours, and his remains were accompanied to the grave, by many of his veteran companions in arms, who thus took the last opportunity of testifying their respect for his character as a soldier and a man."

Born about 1784, enlisted in 84th Regiment of Foot, promoted to sergeant 24 Nov. 1808, discharged 8 Nov. 1813.

Settlement between 20th March and 20 June 1831 - Lot 27, March Township, Bathurst District, 100 acres.
Catholics were given 100 acres; Protestants were given 200 acres or more..

George married Ellen Ryan. (Ellen Ryan was born @ 1785 in Ireland, died in 1838 and was buried in St. Isidore - S. March, Ontario, Canada.)

  Marriage Notes:

GEN: Other family member identified in the 1851 census is Jane, age 49, born in Quebec but living elsewhere (other than S. March)

George had a relationship with Mary Behan, daughter of Jeremiah Behan and Catherine Flynn, on 5 Oct 1842. (Mary Behan was born in 1813.)
