Census of 1920 shows him single, living with his mother and a working as a pharmacist and owner of Casey drug in Aitkin, MN.

From the Aitkin Independent Age of March 12, 1964
John Ambrose Casey. 79 of Aitkin, died March 4 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Cancer Home in St. Paul after an illness of 5 months. A resident of Aitkin all his life, he attended Aitkin Elementary school and along with Miss Jessie Kempton comprised the first high school graduating class of Aitkin in 1901. Mr Casey attended St. Johns University, Collegeville, MN and the Universtity of Minnesota school of Pharmacy. Mr Casey has been a long time member of the Minnesota Association of Pharmacists. A requiem mass was chanted a cappella by the pupils of the Mary hill Academy with Rev. Thomas Durkin officiating Friday March 6. Internment was made at the St. Thomas Cemetary in the family lot.
Pallbearers were Patrick Casey Jr., Thomas S. McCann, Dennis M. Casey, George J. Rahlf, James E. Killeen and George E. Olson.
Survivng Mr Casey are his sisters, Miss Erma and Sister Cyril Clare C.S.J. both of St. Paul, Mrs. D. J Coffey of San Francisco and one brother Patrick C. Casey Jr. of St. Paul. Friends and relatives from out of town attending the funeral were Mother Antonine C.S.J., Provincial Superior, Sister Hilaria, C. S. J., assistant
Provincial and Sister Mary Ellen CSJ all of St Paul: Sister Mercedes O.S.B. and Sister Mary Sarto O.S.B of Duluth, Sister Cyril Clare C.S.J Mr and Mrs Patrick C Casey Sr., Dennis Casey and Mr and Mrs T.S McCann and sons, Michael and William and daughter Moira. Mr and Mrs George Rahlf Jr. Mr and Mrs Patrick Casey Jr. all of St Paul: Mr and Mrs Vern Caroll of Duluth and daughter, Sister Margaret Ann O.S.B of Brainerd, Mrs Robert Ellwood of Deerwood and Mr and Mrs Charles Bardessono of Hibbing. Arrangments were with the Hasskamp Mortuary.
